CHEC and crews from around the state remain hard at work around the clock pursuing two separate permanent solutions. The progress made to each of these solutions overnight narrows the timeframe for complete transmission restoration to 6–10 days. This includes the time required for testing after all construction is complete and before transmission service can begin to the islands again. Other overnight efforts included the ramp up of temporary generation to Hatteras Island in order to accommodate a staged reentry of visitors. While no re-entry timeline has been provided yet and Dare County remains under a mandatory evacuation of visitors order for Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands, there is growing optimism around the upcoming return of power and visitors to the area.
