Communication 2: Hurricane Irma

Good morning from Hatteras Island, where it’s currently a beautiful 74 degrees and sunny.

Recent forecasts show Hurricane Irma tracking further west away from our area, and we are increasingly optimistic Hatteras Island will see little effects from the storm. At this time we do not anticipate any vacation interruptions for Guests due to check in this weekend or next weekend, and the weather forecast for incoming arrivals is looking to be a fantastic start to your stay.

Dare County officials are reminding visitors and residents to continue monitoring the storm and to be prepared for changes in the storm’s track. A beach hazards statement is currently in effect for dangerous surf conditions and strong rip currents, so please be cautious when enjoying the beach even if the weather is still nice.

Our next communication is scheduled for Sunday, September 10 at 10 a.m. unless additional information is received earlier.

Please monitor weather reports and be aware of any updated watches and warnings issued by the National Weather Service. For local weather conditions, visit weather.gov/mhx
