Update 3: Hurricane Maria

Currently on Hatteras Island it is overcast at 77 degrees with northeast winds at 20-25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. There is a mandatory evacuation of Hatteras Island in effect by Dare County.

Good morning from a windy and cloudy Hatteras Island. With concern for tropical storm conditions including ocean overwash and other effects with Hurricane Maria moving by offshore, Dare County has issued a state of emergency and evacuation of Hatteras Island.

During periods of evacuation, visit OuterBeaches.com or our Facebook page for daily alerts or call our main office at 800-627-3150 for frequent updates of the storm and important information via our automated voice mail system.

If the evacuation is lifted prior to the weekend and you wish to return for any unused days, we would welcome you back. Please call our office and let us know if you intend to do so. Anticipate localized ocean overwash and use caution when driving.

If you are scheduled to arrive this weekend, keep your plans intact. Other than the next few days, we expect little longer lasting effects and hope you can arrive as planned. Stay tuned to these communications and other news as the storm passes for further information.

Storm resources to follow:

National Weather Service  |  National Hurricane Center  |  Dare County Emergency Management

Our next communication is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27 at 10 a.m. unless additional information is received earlier.

To all of our Guests, travel safely! We look forward to seeing you soon…

…at the beach.

Sincerely,

All of us at Outer Beaches Realty
