Kitty Hawk Kites will hold its annual kite festival, Fly Into Spring on April 4 and 5 at Jockey's Ridge State Park. This festival kicks off national kite month and also welcomes Spring. This years' festival is part of The Land of Beginnings Festival, a week-long community festival in Dare County, celebrating the cultural history of The Outer Banks.
Kitty Hawk Kites and Children & Youth Partnership For Dare County partner this year and Fly Into Spring will also be a fundraiser and opportunity for Imagination Library registration as well.
While the kite festival takes place atop Jockey's Ridge State Park, across the street at Kitty Hawk Kites, free family activities will be going on. Children can make a kite, get their face painted, receive information on Dare County family services offered by Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County. In addition, families may register their children for Imagination Library. Donations and fund raising will take place at the festival to support the Partnership.
Imagination Library is a program founded by Dolly Parton to improve educational opportunities for children. The books in the program are age-appropriate, and promote positive themes of confidence, diversity, and appreciation of art. Once registered, children enrolled will receive a hardback book in the mail each month until their fifth birthday.
