In the same building as the Breeze Thru, this shop sells ornaments, home accents, local artwork, stained glass, seashells, wind chimes and other items that add a special touch to any decor. They also sell jewelry and saltwater taffy.

Handcrafted on the Outer Banks since 1974, the rope hammocks, hammock swings and chairs are a favorite souvenir that will put you in a vacation mood all year long. The ropes, wood and hardware used in Nags Head Hammocks are weather-resistant and hold up extremely well. Stop by to see the hammocks being crafted onsite.

Ocean Annie's has been a longtime fixture on the Outer Banks shopping scene, and it's a gallery that people return to year after year. Functional and decorative pottery is the specialty, especially the work of Bill Campbell. You'll also find jewelry, wind chimes, candles, stained glass, neat wooden boxes, the popular Peggy Karr fused glass plates and gourmet coffee beans.

This gift shop offers a great variety. You'll find stained glass, flags, hammocks, jewelry, nautical items, hats, T-shirts and lots of lighthouses. It's between the post office and the school.

Just past the Fish House Restaurant, the Hatteras Toy Store offers the best selection of educational and fun toys on the island. Currently popular toys like Thomas the Tank Engine, Beanie Babies, Groovy Girls, and imaginative toys like music and musical instruments, art supplies, dress-up clothes, puppets, games, puzzles and more.

This is a fun little shop. The owners are artists who display their photographs and woodwork. They stock a variety of other antiques, hand-blown glass, soaps, herbs, spices, books, pottery, carved primitive shorebirds and more.

Artists Scott Geib and Stephanie Kiker Geib capture the mood of Hatteras Island and Buxton in their artwork. This gallery is the place to take it all in. Scott photographs local scenes, including the famous shot of the moon rising behind the lighthouse. Stephanie paints vivid images available as prints or on tiles, magnets, clocks, trivets, T-shirts, switchplates and more.

A fixture on the island surfing scene since 1977, Natural Art is all about serious surfing. They shape custom boards and create custom artwork, so you can design your own. They sell new and used boards; and rent surf boards, body boards and wetsuits. They do repairs, too. A fun place to spend some time, Ocean Notions offers gifts and souvenirs, jewelry, T-shirts, clothes, swimsuits, board shorts, sandals and other things you need for your vacation.

You won't miss the shocking yellow building near the lighthouse entrance – and you wouldn't want to. One of three locations of The Cottage Shop, it's become an Outer Banks favorite for home decor and wedding gifts. From functional to decorative, there's items for the kitchen, bath, dining room, bedroom, porch and garden. You can actually outfit an entire rental cottage with their specialized packages.

One of those stores that vacationers can't wait to return to each year, this store is located in an historic island home. Inside is tons of treasures and gifts, much of it handcrafted. The selection includes Christmas decorations, baskets, wreaths, cross-stitch, woodwork, birdhouses, dolls, knickknacks, potpourri, plants, garden statuary, birdbaths, shells and much more.

The Red Drum, serving Hatteras Island since 1954, is housed in a long strip on the east side of Highway 12. There's a tackle shop, a beach supply and grocery store, a gas station, an auto parts store, and an auto repair shop. They provide bait, tackle, supplies, gear, advice, and rod building and repair. Then you can go over to get all the groceries you'll need for the trip.

Pick out greeting cards or note cards for any occasion, helium balloons or a gift for a friend; make copies, send a fax, or use one of their computers to surf the Internet at a reasonable rate.

All of the products in this gallery are handcrafted by Outer Banks artists, mostly from the island. This is the place to look for very original works: paintings, blown glass, ceramics, jewelry, woodworks, photographs, baskets, handmade journals and more. Most days, native painter Wayne Fulcher is at work here.

Down Highway 12 on your way into Frisco, don't miss the first shop in the village. It carries an amazing selection of local artwork, glass and wood carvings, jewelry, T-shirts and driftwood. The selection of seashells and specimen shells is impressive, and there are a lot of nautical-inspired home-decor items and toys.

Potters Wes Lassiter and Rhonda Bates own this working studio. You can often catch them at the wheel, and see their functional and decorative pieces on display in the gallery. Rhonda and several other local painters are represented in the painting gallery. From May through September, the theater is open for the Frisco Jubilee, an opry-style show featuring local musicians, poets and personalities.

Hatteras Island's First and Finest Gourmet Fudge!  Made right on the premises and so good that it was featured on the Food Channel!  More than 30 fudge flavors to choose from including several flavors of sugar-free fudge.  22 flavors of salt water taffy, 24 flavors of Jelly Belly jelly beans and a large selection of seashells, T-shirts, and great gifts.  Hermit Crab races every Friday from mid-June through Labor Day.

This thrift shop raises funds for Hotline, a crisis shelter and domestic violence prevention service for women and children. You can donate used items or buy goods at reasonable prices.
