If your vacationing party is arriving via a private plane, or if you're interested in taking a high flying air tour during your Outer Banks stay, then head to the handful of small airports that are located throughout the region.
The Billy Mitchell Airport located in Frisco is the closest airstrip for Hatteras Island vacationers, while the First Flight Airport is easily accessible by vacationers staying in Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk. Even Ocracoke has its own small airstrip, the Ocracoke Island Airport, which is open for the public.
The largest of these airstrips is the Dare County Regional Airport which is located in Manteo and services a number of private planes and small businesses that offer shuttle services or tours. Essentially, if you want to soar into your next vacation, the Outer Banks has plenty of airports in all areas where you can land.
