Here are six personal pet-lover recommendations that you shouldn’t miss when planning your next vacation. We’ve also included some helpful pet beach hacks for when you get here!
Vicki’s Pick: One #613, Oceanfront in Avon | 5 BR, 3F + 2H BA
"This oceanfront home is on the border of National Park Service land which makes for some pretty incredible views. With practically no one else around, your pups are going to love this long stretch of beach and you won’t have to worry about too many people around! The private walkway to the beach is a big hit."
"I love this home because the Owners put a lot of attention into the little details. I especially like all of the decking and deck furniture. If you and your dog like to sit out and watch the waves from the porch, this one doesn’t have any direct neighbors, so the views from all angles are spectacular. It’s only 2 homes back from the ocean with a giant yard!" Nate
Crystal’s Pick: 4 Salty Paws #147, Semi-Oceanfront in Avon | 3 BR + 2 BA
"Not everyone really wants or needs a giant home – if you just want to sneak away to the beach with your family and your pet, this home is great. It books up pretty fast because it’s super cute and the rates are good. It’s in a great location in the heart of Avon near everything and really easy to get to the beach." Crystal
"You’ll really get to experience unforgettable sunrises and unobstructed ocean views from this home located being right on the seashore. Guests with fluffy pets love this one since the living room on the top level is not carpeted." Edie
Orville’s Pick: Spittin’ Kitty #20, Soundside in Salvo | 7 BR + 7.5 BA | Elite
"The soundside is always a fun playground for animals who love the outdoors. I can’t keep my dogs out of the water! Spittin’ Kitty has a giant yard which they just love, and the pool area is quite spacious as well. Although dogs aren’t allowed in the pools, they do love the chance to spread out just as much as we do." Orville
Heather’s Pick: Luna Tuna #768, Oceanfront in Hatteras | 4 BR + 3.5 BA | Elite
While you’re in town, check out these puppy approved vacation hacks:
"Luna Tuna has a huge oceanfront facing deck with a crazy view, but it’s also the perfect place for your pet to lounge all day. The easy beach access makes this home a breeze to run back and forth. Once the new Ocracoke passenger ferry opens in early 2019, you’ll be able to walk over to the ferry in less than 5 minutes!" Heather
- If your pup isn't a fan of car rides, try massaging your pup with a little lavender oil.
- To help ease the ride, try a laundry basket with a blanket and a pillow for a canine car seat.
- Forgot chew toys? Don't worry - put an empty water bottle inside a sock and tie a knot at each end.
- Low-sodium chicken broth is great for soothing upset stomachs from saltwater consumption.
