Directions to the Waves Office: As you leave Nags Head, this office is located 25.7 miles South of the traffic light at the intersection of the US 158 Bypass and Highway 12 South at Whalebone Junction. The office is located on the east side of Highway 12, just north of the United States Post Office in Waves. The Waves Office is located between mile markers 41 and 42.
Directions to the Avon Office: As you leave Nags Head, this office is located 40.7 miles south of the traffic light at the intersection of the US 158 Bypass and Highway 12 South at Whalebone Junction. Once you arrive in Avon, pass through the first traffic light, then turn left at the third street past the traffic light onto Tigrone Blvd. The Avon Office is located between mile markers 55 and 56.
Directions to the Hatteras Office: As you leave Nags Head, this office is located 57.5 miles South of the traffic light at the intersection of the US 158 Bypass and Highway 12 South at Whalebone Junction. The Hatteras Office is located between mile markers 71 and 72.

We understand that safety is a top priority when you're on vacation and finding a beach with a lifeguard might be #1 in your book. There are 2 beaches on Hatteras Island with lifeguards, Buxton & Frisco.
Buxton: The lifeguard station is located at the old lighthouse beach.
Frisco: You can find beach access with bathhouse on the left-hand side between Frisco & Hatteras. This access has bathrooms, restrooms, water fountains, showers, and lifeguards.
Lifeguards are on duty seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Don’t worry if you don't have a boat catch some of the best fish straight from the beach. Stop by the local marina late in the afternoon to see the day's catch displayed along the docks, including dolphin, wahoo, tuna and king mackerel. Billfish such as blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish are normally tagged and released. Hatteras Village is home to many local restaurants. If fishing isnt your forte, water activities are unlimited. Swim, canoe, windsurf and more right on the Pamlico Sound. At the southern end of Highway 12, Guests can visit the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum or take the free ferry to Ocracoke for a day trip. With popular world-renowned fishing and other activities and the small community charm, Hatteras Village is the perfect escape.
