The town of Rodanthe is the northernmost town in the three tri-villages of Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo. The town borders the village of Waves to the south and the wide open terrain of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore to the north. Rodanthe condo rentals are close to a number of local attractions and amenities as well as the Atlantic Ocean.
Area attractions for visitors who are staying in Rodanthe Condo Rentals include the S-Curves, a popular surfing beach that’s located just outside the northern town borders, and the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is approximately 13 miles long, and spans from the edge of Rodanthe to the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge. Home to a Visitors Center, a network of nature trails, and miles of open beaches, the refuge is a popular destination for birdwatchers and nature lovers. More than 350 different species of migrating birds have been spotted here, and the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge is also the site of the annual Wings Over Water Festival held every fall.
Rodanthe is also famous as the home of the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station, a small complex that include two late 1800s and early 1900s lifesaving service stations, which were the predecessors of the modern US Coast Guard. The Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station has been renovated and transformed into a small museum and a gift shop, which features an array of artifacts from the station’s years of operation.
Rodanthe’s other claim to fame is as the setting of the popular Nicolas Sparks’ novel and subsequent movie, Nights and Rodanthe, which is set in the coastal town. Outer Banks visitors who stay in Rodanthe condo rentals will be close to all the gorgeous beaches and soundside landscapes that made this town a favorite destination for romantics and ocean-lovers everywhere.
