Hello, and thanks for checking in with Outer Beaches Realty on Hatteras Island. This is Communication #1 for Hurricane Dorian as of Sunday, September 1. Dorian is currently bearing down on the Bahamas as a Category 5 hurricane. This morning’s projected path has it coming close to Hatteras Island by the end of the week. The good news with this projection is that Dorian is expected to diminish to a Cat 1 hurricane by then, passing to the south of Hatteras within 100 miles or so. However, it is still five days out, and as we all know there remains a significant degree of uncertainty of its exact path.

At this point, everyone should keep their plans intact but closely monitor national reports and the Outer Beaches website for regular updates and advisories, including any actions by Dare County.

This week’s weather looks stellar with sun and warm temperatures -- a great time to be here -- until, of course, the later part of the week. Stay tuned. We’ll keep you updated. Our next communication is scheduled around noon tomorrow, Monday, Labor Day. Enjoy a terrific holiday weekend.
