Yesterday, Hatteras Island was dusted with a couple of fluffy feet of snow! Snow is a strange sight on the Outer Banks and especially as far south as Hatteras Island. A steady stream of this wondrous stuff fell from the early morning hours until after dark. Visitors and locals alike took advantage and had a little Hatteras-style fun in the great outdoors. Snowmen could be seen in yards along Highway 12 from Rodanthe to Hatteras Village as kids were let out of school at 11:30. On the beaches, boogie boards became make-shift sleds, fins were removed from surfboards for better sliding and Hatteras did what it does best...had a GREAT time! Outer Beaches Realty staff photographer, Dan, snapped a few photos around the island to commemorate this rare winter event.
