Many of our homes and cottages allow pets, so if you're bringing yours along, be sure to select a home listed as pet friendly. But hurry! These North Carolina homes are highly sought after so they book up quickly. If you cant find a pet-friendly home but still want to bring your pets, the only kennel on the Island is Hatteras Island Pet Resort in Rodanthe. Also note there is a leash law on Cape Hatteras National Seashore, so don't forget to keep your dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet when on the beach. You can also bring your dog to some of the national parks, so don't leave your furry family members at home!
Many of our homes allow pets. If anyone in your party is bringing a pet, you must select a home that is listed as Pet-Friendly. A non-refundable $125 Pet Fee is charged for each pet. If you are renting a Pet-Friendly home, your lease will automatically reflect a charge for one pet. If you are not bringing a pet, you may deduct this amount. If the home permits pets, you agree to have not more than one housebroken dog or cat without the express prior approval of OBR and the Owner. If you have been given permission to bring more than one pet, your lease will show a charge of $125 per pet. The Guest is responsible for cleaning the area around the home of all pet excretions. ANY UNDECLARED PET(S) FOUND IN OR AROUND A NON-PET HOME IS GROUNDS FOR EXPEDITED EVICTION, FORFEITURE OF ALL MONIES PAID AND/OR A NON-DECLARED PET FEE OF $200, PER PET, PER WEEK AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF OBR. If a pet is found in a non-pet home, the cost of remediating the home to pre-pet condition, to include professional cleaning of the carpet and upholstery, a flea treatment for the home and dry cleaning or laundering of all bedding at a cost of up to $1,000 will be the responsibility of the Guest. Under no circumstances are pets allowed in pools or hot tubs. Breach of this rule is considered a serious violation of your lease and may result in expedited eviction. The Accidental Damage Program included in your rent does not cover damage by pets. Any material damage by a pet to the home will be the responsibility of the Guest and shall be paid immediately upon written notification by OBR.
