We understand your frustration as this outage situation interrupted what was supposed to be a wonderful visit to Hatteras Island, and we appreciate your patience as we have worked to find claim submission options for all of our Guests. We are happy to announce that all Guests who experienced shortened or missed vacations as a result of the power outage can now file claims for coverage. All Outer Beaches travel insurance policy providers are now accepting claims, and Guests who did not have travel insurance can now file a claim directly with PCL. For more information on each process, please see below.
FOR GUESTS WITH TRAVEL INSURANCE
OBR has been working diligently behind the scenes with the travel insurance companies. At first, only one of the three companies said they would cover this event (Modern Voyage). We secured the second one, the provider for international travelers, within days of the incident.
On August 3, we were successful with the third and final insurance company, Berkshire Hathaway. They secured a direct path for their policy holders to PCL and their insurance company. Berkshire is in the process of direct calling each of their policy holders with specific instructions of how to file their claim for reimbursement.If you had a Berkshire policy and have not heard from them by end of Friday, August 4, call us and we’ll assist.

FOR GUESTS WITHOUT TRAVEL INSURANCE
As of August 3, PCL is accepting claims from those who were not covered by travel insurance. A submission form has been set up here: http://outerbanks.pcl.com/. You will need to provide documentation, such as a receipt or invoice. If you need such documentation from Outer Beaches, please call our offices for assistance at 800-627-1850. Outer Beaches offices and phone lines are open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday and 9 a.m. – 6 pm. Saturday – Sunday. Please anticipate a high call volume and extended wait time. We are working to assist all Guests as quickly as possible, so we appreciate your patience!
